We're halfway the month again, a few days late, all the more reason to change the poll at once! Prior to presenting the new poll, let's have a look at the outcome of the Bottle o' wine poll from June/July. With whom would you like to sit on a terrace and have a drink, celebrating the 25th anniversary of MSX? After a whopping 1039 votes, here is the result:
  1. Kay Nishi 19.54%
  2. Wammes Witkop 19.15%
  3. Someone else 16.84%
  4. Hideo Kojima 15.40%
  5. Bill Gates 14.73%
  6. Martos 14.34%
MSX architect Kay Nishi has won, but very closely followed by former MCM chief editor and MCM/MCCM publisher Wammes Witkop. So close that maybe Wammes would've won had the poll been online a few days more or less. In any case, both Kay and Wammes are of course respectable MSX giants!

Let's get straight towards the next poll! Over the years we have seen all kinds of game genres on MSX, but one popular genre still seems to be missing: the point 'n click adventures, such as the SCUMM(tm) games from LucasArts. There is a reasonable chance that you have once played the swashbuckling Monkey Island series or the hilarious Day of the Tentacle. In addition, the first SCUMM game Maniac Mansion showed that this particular genre didn't require rocket science, as it did run on a Commodore 64. Why wasn't there a point 'n click adventure for MSX, or why wasn't SCUMM ported to MSX yet, even if it had to be a high-spec MSX?

The poll question of this month is thus a simple one: do you ever expect to see a point 'n click adventure on MSX? This doesn't necessarily have to be a game in a ported SCUMM system, it may also be a completely new engine, as long as it has similar ingredients as the popular SCUMM games. Is there still hope, or should we accept that point 'n click on MSX will never be? Point 'n click your poll choice!

If you have an idea for a interesting poll, send your idea to poll@msx.org and we will consider running your suggestion for a month.
