It is not what I see around me. Even Windows 10 is more stable. Many people have problems with external devices, especially monitors. System even crashes downright when going to sleep on some Macs. Apple took months to fix this on the latest Macbook pro.
Catalina works fine for me. Only µTorrent stopped working because of the 64-bit thing, but I switched to Folx and all is good.
Catalina works fine for me too. I don’t develop for MSX but I did build sjasm on Catalina from source and it worked fine. Personally I do like VS code as text editor and I use it across Mac and Windows machines...
Even putting wine/win32 aside, I still have plenty of Mac apps that have only 32-bit binaries. If anyone knows a good replacement for them, it will be welcome:
- Adium
- AppleOff
- Chicken of the VNC
- iChm
- iCombiner
- iSVN
- KompoZer
- SimplyBurns (because Burn is 64-bit, but has issues to burn SegaCD/PSX .cue images)
- M1 Arcade music player
- Name Mangler (because $19 is ridiculously expensive for a software like this)
- NFOViewer
- QuickTerm
- ViewMSX
And in the game/emulation department, things are just bleak. Even games that I recently purchased on GoG have no 64-bit versions. Some that I'll miss the most are:
- All MSX remakes by Brain Games
- Alien8
- Another World remake
- Doukutsu (aka Cave Story). The original, not the remake
- Gridwars
- Kega Fusion
- Kobo Deluxe
- Machinarium
- NEStopia
- OOlite
- Plasma Pong
- SNES9x
- X68000EM
- ZSNES
- Zuma Deluxe
