I should've mentioned that I managed to unbrick it by following the steps and using an MFR with the backup files on it.
First reboot after flashing this 8MB file was the pink screen and it halted just before any text could be printed.
Second reboot was a blue screen with a big white square.
I'll send the 8MB file to you.

Hello,
I have successfully upgraded the Carnivore2 to firmware v2.40 Now my question .. I have set SCC+ in Slot1, and Manbow2 in Slot2. But after the intro the screen stays black. What am I doing wrong? Is there finally a way to play Manbow2 (uncut) with SCC+ and save option? Greetings to everyone here

Manbow2 does not require dual slot, it should have SCC in the same slot. You can get the required RCP for correct slot setup here and you have to patch the rom slightly to get SCC sound as can be read here.

Is there any way to run Carnivore2 from slot 3? The National CF-3000's two cartridge slots are primary slots 2 and 3, and I'm hoping to use Carnivore2 in slot 3 together with another less-flexible cartridge in slot 2 - that other cartridge also doesn't work from primary slot 3, but unlike Carnivore 2 doesn't have any easy way to modify the firmware / cartridge ROM

edit: also, is there any way to use the Carnivore2 multi-slot features in this machine? Primary slot 1 is the system RAM

The current Boot Menu won't allow Carnivore to run in slot 3. However, when you have the cartridge in slot 2 and slot 3 is empty, you can try to use it as the slave slot. If that doesn't work, then you can use one of subslots of slot 2 as the slave slot by disabling one of the built-in devices and selecting the slave slot option for that subslot in the Dual Slot menu.

I think it is odd C2 now blocks usage from slot 3. I think the reason is the dual slot functionality which won’t work, but all the rest should work fine. It should just have a message that dual slot won’t work (and disable it in the software if possible).

Thanks for the reply sdsnatcher73. The save option doesn't work for me, but it doesn't matter .. My Carnivore2 was vicious from the start ..

That would be great! Is there some way to get that behavior now, rather than halting the system with an error message?

Well the save option only works on the original Manbow2 cart as that has an SRAM chip, so it does not work on any C2 not just yours
