And YES you are correct, the building of the adapter explaining it the right way.
The schematic has the C and E labeled wrong.
Finally someone who noticed it. (i didn't until now )
I will change it in my pdf. that can be found here
Emil
great, thanks!
Pins 7 and 8 on picture from the pdf seem also inverted.
I think this is ok??, (looking at the bottom of the ports, left side goes into msx, right is the joystick port)

The picture is correct, Sepulep has it interpreted it correctly.
Only my hand drawn (sleepy head) schematic was wrong, and is now corrected.
I made a Joymega with the transistor positioned as showed on the picture (and same as pins description at right) on the pdf and the extra buttons do not work. The pinout description should be this one:
So schematic was right but this is the pinout at top right that is wrong.

@ gdx
The picture you posted with the BC547c is exactly the same i have in my pdf.
Could you explain in more detail what you mean? Or did u use the picture of the right transistor the 2n3904?
If so then you have to place the transistor accordingly to the pins used (I build it with a BC547)
The schematic was not right, the way i redrawn it is the right way.
And pictures I used to build the joymegas, I tested and use myself and they work.
Emil
P.S. my mail is in the pdf so if you need help with a build or trouble shooting you can always mail me.
Oups, you are right. I reversed the pinout of 2N3904
I have not yet understood my original problem: so I think the transistor is installed wrong way round on my joymega; though I can correct this, I think this justs means that the extra buttons of the 8bitdo controller won't work, it should not cause any shortcircuit or any other problem for the receiver, is that correct? (I would like to be sure of this before I try with another one...)
How to integrate the JoyMega into the 8BITDO M30 Joypad:

The mod is the same for the 8Bitdo Retro Receiver for SEGA Genesis & Mega Drive. Only the screws are different, and we can use a NC7ST04 instead of the 74LS04.
