Picked up a loose cartridge copy of Game Land Special for dirt cheap today during my game hunt in Akihabara, but when I popped it into my Panasonic FS-A1WX (after cleaning the contacts, of course!), I just had music and a black screen. When I pressed trigger 1 or the space bar, I suddenly had a screen with a grid of Japanese text on it -- but just the letters お, か, and あ. If I pressed various keys on the keyboard or pressed triggers 1 and 2 on the controller, I could make certain configurations of these letters appear or disappear, but that's it -- I couldn't get anything else to happen at all.
Looking at footage online, this definitely doesn't seem to be what the game is supposed to look like! So I suspect either I have a cartridge with a corrupted rom of the game on it, or the game isn't fully compatible with my system for some reason.
Since I have no manual, though, I'm not sure if maybe there's just some crucial step I'm missing instead.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!
