I would be surprised if the Bios is not the same as the HX-10D.

Probably. In that case adding the 10S should be as simple as copying the 10D XML file and modifying the amount of memory.

Why butcher that beautiful machine?
Get a 64k ram cartridge or better a GT8NET/Carnivore2/SD512 etc and a whole MSX world is opened up for you!
I have a VG8000 and when inserting a cart above this machine becomes a beast!
When inserting those FPGA cards a MSX1 is still a full blown MSX machine (lacking the MSX2 gfx) with a lot of potential!
Really recommended!

HX-10D is also available in red. The keyboards look identical on both models. So it's easier to buy that one and sell yours as is.

Naturally. Like I said before, and as commented by Wlcracks, there is no real reason now to get creative on the board. I get to run anything I want with the megaflashrom 512kb (well, msx2cas rom to tape playback does not work, but since those are rom files anyways that's a rather silly complaint ^_^). Right now I have the 10S(R) keyboard+top part of case on top of the 10D(B) bottom part of the case+board because I think the colour combination looks rather nice, not so much for the extra ram.

The original question on replacing the ram was whether it could be done, rather than if it should be.
