Does spectravideo svi318-328 new hardware/software project exist?
Where found quality web site like MRC for svi318-328?
How many svi318-328 were been sold?
I have never seen much for those machines, except MSX software ported to the Spectravideo by users.
These machines sold well in scandinavia, don't know about rest of the world.
I would think it would be relatively easy to convert a 328 into a MSX 1 compatible computers, at least with basic programs.
AFAIK there're no SVI's active forums like MRC; but maybe I'm wrong. Try looking through the links posted in SVI-328 Wikipedia's page. Also you can find a lot of information on this page: Roger's Spectravideo page.
It's a pity, really
This computer is nearly a MSX machine and as in the colecovision scene, would be very cool to port some SVI games to MSX (armoured assault and frantic freddy among others) and MSX games back to the SVI. I've no idea about the SVI BIOS or if the games makes use of it; but maybe are easy to convert or at least easier than the colecovision stuff, I guess that is harder to adapt.
MSX games has allready been portet to the spectravideo 328, these are a couple of Konami games, I have them myself and they are identical to the MSX.
@manuel frantic freddy can be played with emulator (blue msx) works fine there
Unless you upgrade it to 728. There seems to be a few owners of that machine here including myself.
I wonder if it's possible to "upgrade" (sidegrade is more like it) a 328 to a 728 without a lot of work.
It should be just as easy as converting Memotech MTX512. Practically you need new motherboard, connectors, keyboard matrix etc. but the components are about same.
BTW there exists MSX emulator for SVI that can load MSX tapes and you can play BASIC games.
