This article distorts reality a bit.

I prefer the development of Omega MSX. And when ready, absolutely a must have... Nishi, your development..... Forget it!
Forget programming on Z80 and R800, fucus on VM64? Getting the most of Z80 is all we do it for.
To Nishi: betray your inheritance of Z80, programming assembly code, and be creative .. Maybe an Intel I9, 64 cores and speed of at least 4Ghz per core, is what you desire... and virtual basic... Lazy and using coding language as high as possible.. as long if it executes you command within the t states or cycles which emulates 3.57 MHz.. sorry.. no respect.. Nishi, fuck off with this idea! Real msx or nothing

I feel like the whole MSX3 development didn't start from a specific demand in the market. Basically nobody really needs it (even though it is not completely clear yet what the MSX3 exactly will be).
To me it just looks like an effort to boost the EGG project. And I'm not a fan of that, I prefer playing oldschool games on a real machine that boots in 2 seconds, that doesn't need firmware updates, and that doesn't display advertisements.
And when I play games on a modern device I play on my smartphone or Nintendo Switch, but I will not need an "MSX"3...

Be honest. We all do not need it. But once it is launched, a minimum desire will arise...

Totally agree. In fact, any retro device is not needed, you can do anything better and cheaper using a PC, but you can't avoid the desire, at least at the beginning.

MSX retrofans need MSX3 because we'll have a new VDP in FPGA implementation and the new MSXOS.
Maybe it will cut off all limitations we are suffering since many years.
So... A new/advanced MSX chapter in the MSX history! Nishi
Also, people can use the IoT part for machine automation, control, etc. a new promising market.
Many stakeholders, much interest in MSX3!

I can understand the charms of developing on a limited system but to have a chance in current market focus on IOT/education/hobby is the right call.

Pretty much every old platform have had projects aiming at making a modernized system.
AFAIK the end result is always that a small part of the old userbase splits off to the new system that then fades into obscurity.
I've never heard of a case were a new system brings in new users. Unless you can sell something cheaper than the Raspberry Pi but with more performance the people who would be interested in a new MSX would be people who are already interested in an old MSX.
It is also unlikely that a new system would bring over any significant part of the userbase since most who still uses MSX does so for a nostalgic itch that a new system can't scratch.

Let's consider Spectrum Next a success story, so in the best case, the MSX3 could be like this. Not a huge community, not big sales, but big enough to have a small community using it.
