Dear MSX3 potential users,
I have decided to include V9990 functions into new video for MSX3. It will look like 9958+9990 and 2K support.
Well, it sounds very good. Is there any release date?
Nishi San was thinking in the 1st half of 2022 but with the component issues (See Switch, PS5, cars) just hopefully sometime in the year.
It should have different models of keyboards or CPU.
Probably also a download system for all those who want to take over an MSX but who have no more software since the 90s. For my part, an enthusiast since 1986, I only have a PC for my administrative tasks and a MSX Turbo-R FS-A1GT from Panasonic and I play at a friend's house on Nintendo Switch.
But it is very clear and 100% certain that I will buy these new MSX items and hopefully peripherals (Joypad and various others)

I hadn’t expected that! I am looking forward to that implementation. And it sounds like they will be superimposed like (I speculate) was the original intention for the original MSX3 before it turned into the turboR when the VDP was not ready in time. I hope it will use the same I/O to control the superimpose as the Video9000. Also, not sure if it was already confirmed, but would be nice if it also supports R800… Then it would realise the full original MSX3 vision .

Perhaps not superimposed, but extra modes available along with the current modes.

Since it is the same chip that reproduces these VDPs, there will be no superimposition, there will be the same output for both. The color 0 of the new VDP could show the v9958 screen but that would surprise me since the resolutions are not always the same.
If both chips are implemented in the FPGA I'm pretty sure they can be wired any way the designer want. "9958+9990" sounds to me like the video output of both chips are simply OR-combined, one overlaying the other, so that the one below will replace the backdrop color of the overlaying one.
Anyway good news!
Good news! I am curious to see how this is going to be implemented. Creating such display processors in FPGA is quite an undertaking.
Yeah he later said 9998 will also probably be included, but it will be a battle against the FPGA's capacity.
I imagine they own the original designs (as they were created by Yamaha for ASCII) so turning a CMOS design into FPGA might not be too difficult.
Dear MSX Fans,
Add info from K. Nishi :
"There will be a software distribution web for MSX not just 3 but any releted contents.anyone can be a marchant anyone can buy anything."
"Old msx magazines will be republished on the web.I will decide after msx3 will be rollimg out to the market.instead of old style one way communication like magazines, I want to use groupeware."
