I'm looking for a cartridge with SCC chip. It doesn't matter if the game itself isn't working or how the cartidge looks. I just want to use it for the SCC chip so that part needs to be functional.

Is that an fpga implementation or an original scc chip?
I've made my purchase and I should be able to enjoy a real SCC somewhere next week!

It uses a ARM Cortex not a FPGA. I have one. I played some music to a few people, they didn't notice any difference. As for me, I clearly hear differences between the emulation of the SN76489 (openMSX) and a real SN76489, but between the Konami's Sound Cartridge and that of Popolon it's difficult. The emulation is of high quality. In addition, the sound level is good on my turbo R and my CF-2700. I'm 99% sure you'll be happy with it even if you have already a flash card interface with SCC/SCC+ support.
Well, since I only recently moved from emulation back to a real machine, in this case I decided I wanted "the real thing" (c)
The fact that the cartridge I bought is actually a Nemesis 2 cartrdige (which is still my faourite SHMUP), converted to an MFR (so I can put the smooth scroll version of Nemesis 2 in it) with a nice switch, TFH is a happy camper who will soon enjoy the sound of a real SCC on his MSX again
It is rewarding to have the cartridge with the original chip. But this is no longer produced, most often is unaffordable and it is no longer desirable to dismantle or damage them.
You won't hear any difference, the waveform is identical to the original, this has been carefully checked. This is not a rough reproduction.
Like the original Sound cartridge, the sound level is higher than a classic SCC. Because for some MSX the PSG stands out more in music with a classic SCC.
Note that Snatcher and SD Snatcher do not have the original sound with a classic SCC, even if it is not really noticeable... You need a Sound cartridge (or a clone).
I know a few tunes in SD Snatcher where it's noticeable but never realized it was off until I heard what it was supposed to be like.

The picture on the wiki shows an Altera Max. Is that used for something else?
I've read in this post that it is not FPGA?
Every implementation I've seen of the SCC and SCC+ are based on a FPGA and I see an Altera Max in the pictures. Can you confirm?
Altera Arria, Cyclone, Flex, Max 10 and Stratix are FPGAs. Other Altera Max are EPMs.
Nonetheless, an EPM + ARM Cortex are probably something close to some FPGA, so it's not really important to tell the difference.

I understand your point of view for emulators, OCMs and some multi-function cartridges, but in this case, this is a cartridge that is used exactly like the original. It has more memory and prevents your original cartridge from being damaged by opening. Hardware and sound quality are here, cartridge contacts are gold plated.
@gdx,
Maybe so But I a still very happy with my real SCC cartridge, especially since it's Nemesis II which is the game I've played the most in my life:
