Can anyone on this forum tell me how to convert a standard atari/amiga-joystick to msx. I have looked at the msx pin specification, can I reconnect in this way:
(atari->msx)
1 -> 1
2 -> 2
3 -> 3
4 -> 4
6 -> 6
7 -> 5
8 -> 9
9 -> 7
... but what is pin 8 (Output 3) used for on the msx?

Pin 8 is used to output a signal to 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7 when the appropriate button / direction is pressed. This way, the MSX can recognize which button / direction is pressed.
