MSX2 monitor

Yesterday I managed to get hold of an old (in good condition) MSX2

(and not just a MSX2, but one with 256K RAM, 2 3,5" drives AND 2 cartridge inputs )

but all I got is the system and a keyboard, no monitor what-so-ever.

The audio/video-output looks a bit like a SCART to me, but I couldn't compare them

'cause there was no modern scart-TV in the vicinity of where the MSX is currently at.

Is it possible to get a SCART(or whatever it is)-to-VGA plug somewhere so I can plug it in my PC's 17" monitor ?

Thanks from the bottom of my heart/soul etc. for your advice 'cause I'd be extatic if I had a properly working MSX2 in my posession again.

Unfortunately no. Unless your PC monitor supports 15kHz bandwidth, but that is highly highly unlikely. I've only seen some LCD monitors support 15kHz, while all CRT's start at 30kHz to my knowledge.

To use a 15kHz device (like MSX) on a modern PC monitor you need something called a scan-doubler, which are usually pricey and hard to find, or of low quality.

maybe Snout can help you find a place to buy a scan doubler. Coz I know he has one.

Indeed, I got a DISPL up scan converter from Japan about 2 or 3 years ago. Although it's quite hard to adjust it, the image is really perfect! Because I like the added features of the XGRB-2plus I might sell my DISPL in the future though.

Also, IIRC Sunrise is developing a high quality pal/ntsc scan doubler. Emailing Koen van Hartingsvelt about the status of the project. I'd like to know too, so post a reaction here if you do
