My 8250 has a dead battery (N-50SB3, NiCD 3.6V 45mAh). Those batteries are still available but they're rather expensive. Does anyone know a suitable 'modern' battery I can use instead?

Thanks.

I think that If the battery does not have to fit in any socket, then any other NiCd 3.6 battery will be ok. You can even go for three 1.2 NiCd batteries to get those 3.6 volts. It would be better to use LiIon batteries but I do not know if these can work with the charging circuit in the MSX computer.

yes , these bateries can be suplied by another ones use another with 3,6 V . the capacity is only the amount of time to charge but it will be longer without charge.

Three NiCd AA bateries wil be fine. I assume NiMH will also work.

Do not use LiIon! They might explode with this very simple loading circuit.

I feared that, but I don't know if the NiMh batteries will work with the MSX. Standard chargers usually have to charging modes, one for NiCd and other for NiMH. Also I have some home appliances that charge NiCd and specifically warn against the use of NiMh and LiIon batteries.

Besides that, a typical NiCd battery have now much capacity than the original 45 mAh, so I wonder if it will get fully charged with a typical computer use (I assume that nowadays none of us have too much time to spend with the MSX Sad ).
