Hey MSX lovers,

While browsing the latest releases in the appstore on iTunes, I found that D4Enterprise has released Aleste for the Iphone and iPod Touch. I haven't bought it, but it looks lke this is another incarnation of the MSXPlayer. Movement is done by tilt controls and firing by tapping the screen.

Here's the link to iTunes:

Thought you guys might be interested in this.

Happy gaming!

Just bought it, the controls are a bit difficult. Controlling the ship is done by balancing your iPhone. It's cool to see the iPhone boot up a MSX logo though.

And, as far as I know, it's not another incarnartion of the MSXPLAYer, but something D4 developed themselves. I played with it about half a year ago and controlling the ship is something you can get used to Wink.

Rikusu - did they write an emulator from scratch, or are they using an existing one? If so, what code did they base it on?

I believe they continue to rape the fMSX code base.

I don't know all that stuff Smile. I just know they developed something themselves because MSXPLAYer was no option anymore.

It's great to see its official release finally. It's a nice effort from D4Enterprise.
I"ve bought it straight away, and although it is hard to play initially you can get used to the controls (especially if you set the game to slow mode). I'm looking forward to seeing more game releases from them. I'm hoping there is going to be a version that can boot to BASIC.

and more games available:
Eggy (free!) - http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=309681987&mt=8
and
Relics (3,99 €) - http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=306476915&mt=8

I tried Eggy (because it is free) and I must say I am not too sure about the controls. It just doesn't work very well for me. Still pretty cool to play MSX games on iPhone/iPod Touch.
