I'm curious, is there a tool that allows you to create a disk using a .dmk file in MSX? I can't generate disks in PC anymore because I don't have a drive attached to it. So I need to do that in MSX.

Is there a repository with dmk files? I really would like to try to generate some disks with those protected files just to do play those as it was played in the past. Smile

Let's chill out people! As I said before, noone is forced to use anything, and noone is obligated do make a software in a way he doesn't want to. Let's receive the news as an advance, not as a retrocess. As long as it possible to move from one format to the other, what's the problem?

No, there is no tool to handle DMK files using the MSX.
I mean, no tools to create DMK files or the opposite using MSX computers.

To do that, use PDI that has all the support by DSK-PRO 9.0 that will be released very soon.
Final tests on the way...

As I explained yesterday, there is a tool to create the track dumps, but currently there is no MSX too to combine them into a DMK file (which is fairly trivial). There is indeed no tool to write a DMK back to a real floppy disk.

I was hoping DSK-PRO could do that. (That would be the ideal world, I guess.)

But for some until now completely not clarified reason, DSK-PRO authors decided to invent yet another format. It's a pity and it's sad that work has to be duplicated (reinvent new format for the same kind of thing, readd emulation support, etc.).

On the other hand, if someone decides to implement a conversion to DMK, it would already be a much better situation, as the protected disk images can then already be directly played on openMSX.

Ok Manuel, first of all, there is no dskpro authors, just one author, me.
Second, this thread is to talk about PDI and DSK-PRO, NOT DMK.
I am sure there is another thread just for that.
Please, respect that!
And yes, PDI is the new format for DSK-PRO and PERIOD.
Thanks.

Cbsfox, you should really change your attitude. You are shy of rude towards others. You come and tell others you have the holy grail and everything else is worse than what you wrote. That's not the spirit man. Chill out, grab a couple of beers and elaborate what you wrote.

Well, it looks like that some Dutch programmers think that they are the only ones to have the holy grail. Always saying the same negative critics just like Manuel does again and again and again before being able to use the announced tool and to make comparisons is really stupid. Stop this absurdity and wait silently for the release of this promising Brazilian tool.

I will elaborate of course. Actually it's done. Just finalizing it.

But as I have to answer messages from Manuel talking about DMK I have no more time.

And I never said DMK is worse. I am not part of that project.
I am sure DMK is great but this thread is not to talk about that.

It's very annoying when I announce some news and the first saying from a user is that I HAVE to use DMK and not PDI.
Come on, I am the author of DSK-PRO and I decide what to use or not. Come.on!

This thread is to talk about another project, which is PDI. Lets concentrate on that.

My last comment on it, Mars, I never said it ISN'T the holy grail, in fact I hope it is. Actually all development is good, and it doesn't matter where it comes from. I almost feel insulted that I am set away as a racist, please let's not go there. I just think the attitude can be more friendly instead of pretending to be God. There just might be more than one ;-)
