8BitDo M30 Gamepad (Mega Drive)

Hi,

I just received the new 8BitDo M30 for original Mega Drive and works with the JoyMega on the Zemmix Neo but I have micro disconnections (lost one or two keystrokes every few seconds).

I don't know if is a power problem of the RS232 (the M30 transmitter is powered by the RS323 only) or the JoyMega.
Anyone else is experience the same behaviour?

I can’t say yet, but I just ordered the 8BitDo M30 Bluetooth controller and MegaDrive Retro Receiver, so let’s see :).

It's a well made controller.

Maybe are interferences from the Zemmix Neo.
I just bought a serial extension cable to check it.
If it's a power problem the cable should make it worse.

I'll keep you updated when I received the cable.

Is your JoyMega made with a transistor, or does it have a chip? JoyMegas made with transistors are known to be problematic.

About the extension chord: a serial extension cable might not have all the wires inside. There are real controller extension cables specific for Sega Genesis/MSX/etc available on eBay.

Is the transistor model. That's could be the problem.
I can't find where I can buy one with chip.

About the cable I bought is this one: 2m Serial EXTENSION Cable Lead 9pin DB9 M - F RS232 6ft
I choose this one because says:
Connection Split/Duplication: None (1 : 1)

If it doesn't works, I'll buy the one you recommends.

Well, finally I found the problem.

After do several tests and check it with the JoyMega with chip version (Thanks much @roadfighter) I found the problem.
The first version of the firmware has an issue and can be solved updating the receiver and the gamepad.

Fimware v2.00
1.Fixed the connectivity issue.
2.Fixed the latency problem.

Thanks for notifying.
I also acquired an M30 2.4g gamepad: Out of the box it has the old firmware.
I had to update the firmware on both the dongle and M30 2.4g gamepad to firmware v2.00.

And did you get a chance to test the Megadrive Retro receiver ? I was wondering how i works so far.
Also the possibility to connect other Bluetooth controllers looks promising.

Yeah and the receiver is pretty cheap, just 20 bucks.
