Hi dear MSXers!
happy holidays first of all to all of the MSX community Big smile
Second, I have bought a msx2 AX-350II some months prior, and I killed the floppy drive accidentally so I got a gotek drive to replace it in the meantime until I get a proper one from our great friend Bas, so I want to know the following:
1. how to flash SFR1M44-U100K gotek drive?
2.do I need to reconfigure any of the jumpers?
3.is there any software that I need to use to make it work?
4.do I need a special USB TO UART bridge or do CP2102 work fine?
at the end thanks a lot to the amazing MSX community,
happy holidays Big smile

Apparently (not from experience but from reading other threads and the documentation) you’ll need to install FlashFloppy and set host = msx in FF.CFG

Thanks a lot to all replays,
I had faced a couple of problems that needed to be tackled:
1.to flash SFR1M44-U100K you need to solder headers to some empty pads near the power connector like so:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pJexjNK6lU920xPKDJ0t5bOPdIW...
1a.must connect the UART bridge properly to the gotek TX->RX & RX->TX and ensure that the flash enable jumper is connected to ground.
1b.check before you download the software if you UART bridge has any pull-up resistors or not, if not like in my CP2102 UART bridge you would need to install two pull-up resistors the value doesn't really matter as long as 5K https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qsvIdTNq5mGRXHU_RfUh2flFtpO...
2. software wise it was a bit confusing but the documentation is really helpful, first you get the FLASHER-STM32:
https://www.st.com/en/development-tools/flasher-stm32.html
2a.get the flashfloppy firmware and download it:
https://github.com/keirf/FlashFloppy/wiki/Downloads
2b.download the CP2102 UART bridge Driver software because apparently, they don't install automatically:
https://www.silabs.com/products/development-tools/software/usb-to-uart-bridge-vcp-drivers
2c. flow the installation guide in the Github page, by now all errors are resolved :-?

sadly thou I couldn't transfer files to my machine because it had a black screen :(
it was hard enough and now my screen doesn't work LOL ;(
thanks thou for all the help and happy Christmas to all :)

Seems you should not have to solder, you can use USB-A to USB-A cable: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUOyZB9cro4

On all the Goteks I've ever had, you have to solder the pin headers to the board in order to then jump them to put the device in flash mode, even with the USB-USB cable. It's just empty holes on most eBay Gotek boards.

Hi! Just got two gotek units "SFR1M44-U100K" from different sellers from China on ebay and both have "SFRC922D" printed on the boards. The text "SFR1M44-U100K" does not appear anywhere on the board or on the case, only in the packaging. Well, has the same thing happened to someone?

don't worry, if you see the programming header and the correct Pinout on both the programming header and the floppy drive interface, you follow the method that I used, however, be careful from the mistakes I outlined above.
good luck instaling them in the machine.
