Some of my MSX systems (NMS250, Sony HB-75P) are showing fine vertical stripes on my flatpanel TV.
I don't mean hard lines but more like a transparent raster or something.
No matter the connection I use (currently SCART, a very good and short cable), it's present in Basic but also in the games.

Those stripes are most visible when I look at the screen from the top, and are almost disappearing when I look at the screen from the bottom.

It's hard to capture those lines on a photo, but here's an example.

Is this due to old capacitors or is this simply the standard quality from the 80's?

All 8250s and up I've seen/had have always shown those vertical stripes on crt screens... The Panasonic and Sony computers I have/had never suffered this.
The 8250 I have now does not show any vertical stripe on my flatpanel, but it does show them on a crt screen...

A CRT will mask this issue a little due to the coarse image quality but that doesn't tell me why those stripes are present on a TFT. Again, maybe this was the highest video quality available back then for a home computer, I don't know....

Meits: my Toshiba HX-10 and VG-8020 don't show stripes neither. But unfortunately, my NMS8250 does.
Matter of fact, I did return the Sony HB-75P (mint condition with box and papers etc) because the stripes were so visible that it was almost impossible to enjoy the system (I think there was a hardware issue with the device).

But if this is a known phenomena for the 8250, I won't have to be worried at least. Smile

This stripe thing is why I always wanted anything but a 8250... Smile

Well, I just bought one in a very nice condition: never opened it seems and without scratches, along with the manuals and the software map with two working floppy disks. Got even the floppy disk "head vibration protector".
So that was a nice catch I'll say. But I was just wondering why the screen has those stripes.

That's a transport disk. It's only to be used until first use.

I know what it is Smile
It was inserted when shipped: not a bad idea knowing how carriers are usually handeling the packages.
