I recently purchased Jungle Hunt, and found out that it hangs on our very familiar copyright message on Toshiba HX-10. Sad

On Canon V-20 and Philips 8235 MSX2 it works.

Is there anyone else with Toshiba HX-10 and Jungle Hunt cartridge, who has the same problem?

Then older problem.

I bought Montezuma´s Revenge as soon as it was published and it has a bug.

After few plays title screen (that Slotman´s added Sega Master System screen) gets corrupted. There appears LOTS of black dots and black 8x1 lines on screen.

Sometimes it doesn´t get corrupted as badly as suddenly, as sometimes, after few plays (after pressing Power ON, I mean) there appears few tens of black dots in that title screen, then after each game over there appears more and more of those black dots and black 8x1 lines start appear too, until it is as corrupted as in first example.

Same happens on few different machines. On MSX2 too.

I haven´t commented this previously, as otherwise game works well and I don´t have a web site where to put any photo of that corrupted screen and, in my opinion, it gives such a nice old feeling of a bit badly coded old game. In the 80s, such a bit corrupted screens gave game a certain charm. Smile Though on Slotman´s port there are quite a lot of that corrupted data on title screen.

Does anyone else have same problems?

Well, Matra and Bitwise NEVER wanted to produce my conversions.
They work perfectly.

MäSäXi: send Montezuma and Jungle Hunt back to Sunrise/Matra and kindly ask them to save my ROMs on the carts. That way you'll be able to play the games on any MSX model. Not to mention several other advantages.

That seems to be the logic. Just because I'm a troll and not a "nice person" in general. I deserve to be "taught a lesson". Even if that means that everyone will be fooled buying crap conversions.

The games I converted needs 64kb of RAM to work. Toshiba HX-10 has only 16kb, so it won't work.

Just to give an example: Coleco BIOS has 8k and need to be loaded at 0000h; Then the game must be loaded at 8000h, and it's usually 24k, so there goes 32k, not even counting the extra routines needed.

Never heard that one... I'll see when I can if it's possible to reproduce and trace that on emulators - but it will be difficult, since even I don't have a Montezuma cartridge myself Tongue

Smile Isn´t it strange, how bad behaviour and nasty words can affect the way how people react on you? Every little thing affects what will happen next. Even if that means that everyone will be fooled buying crap conversions. Same as above. Great, isn´t it?

How can it be possible then, that in the 1980s I was able to play 64Kb cassette games on Toshiba HX-10? And why there is "64K" printed on top side of the Toshiba HX-10? :) And how it can be, that when I switch that Toshiba ON, there reads 28815 basic bytes free if it is 16Kb MSX? That must be because of bad quality of japanese products. Nothing else. Or then you have been mistaken? ;) >--------> http://www.msxgamesbox.com/passion/msxgamesbox/museum/html/toshiba.php

You will have to buy Slotman´s coleco port from bitwise or matra. LOL!

To be completely clear: The Toshiba HX-10 has 64kB RAM indeed. Why you need that amount of RAM isn't clear to me, though. It is a ROM cartridge after all... Anyway, I guess it's just me.

Sorry, my mistake about it. I just googled, and the first result said something about 16k - it was late at night, and I just glanced over it, but the site was actually talking about a HX-10s.

I just ran Jungle Hunt, emulating HX-10 on OpenMSX (same ROM version as in the cartridge) - and the game ran perfectly fine. Here's proof:

Couldn't reproduce the screen corruption on title screen either on Montezuma Revenge, even played 5 games on a row on the emulated HX-10, nothing strange on the game :/

Edit: latest version of Roc'n Rope with Matra also runs fine:
