I'm looking for someone who has the original disk of Hyperdir, see also http://www.generation-msx.nl/software/diosoft/hyperdir/4100/

The reason is that it has an interesting copy protection. That's also the reason there's no copy to be found on the net...

According to some article I found, this is part of the protection, quoting in Dutch:

Quote:

"Op track O aan de voorkant vinden we daar de volgende drie sectoradressen: track O, kant O, sector 1, lengte 1024 bytes; track O, kant O, sector 2, lengte 128 bytes en track 81, kant O, sector 83, lengte 128 bytes. Op track 8 staan zeven sectoradressen met als tracknummers 209, 169, 177, 181, 117, 229 en 205 terwijl we als sectornummers tegenkomen: 173, 198, 131, 71, 229, 201 en 181. Al deze sectoren zijn 1024 bytes lang."

I guess this is also the reason why it only runs on machines with WD2793 FDC's (at least it didn't run on some turboR and MSX2+ machines according to the review article in MCM 48).

My goal is to check whether this disk can be read by READ-DMK.COM and then preserved into a DMK file, so that it won't get lost forever. And then of course check whether it runs correctly in openMSX :)

Who can help?

Hi Junior,

Do you have the possibility to use DMK Creator to create an image of this disk?

And also try with READ-DMK.COM please. Please let me know what kind of MSX you have you could use to dump the disk. Thanks!

You could try opening the file with OpenMSX. It supports the use of .DMK files.
Can you also send a copy of the .DMK file to me? M S X @ F I L E - H U N T E R . C O M

Thanks!

read-dmk.com is a tool to be used in MSX-DOS, by default on a computer with two diskdrives (source in A: and two destinations in B: (swap when asked)). It's not a pc tool Wink

I do wonder why you got 2 images... and indeed, READ-DMK.COM is, just like DMK-Creator, an MSX tool.

He was probably using an MSX-disk which can only hold 720KByte, while a full .DMK file can be 900+KByte? So a .DM1 and a DM2 file which you join to a full .DMK?

I've received the files from Junior. I can't get them to work, maybe someone else can take a look: Hyperdir.zip
