Hey guys,

I've a few books for the MSX but managed to miss a lot of the better books out there. I'm hoping to buy physical copies of any English MSX books. I am also looking for any digital archive covering MSX hardware, software etc. Any and all topics are welcome as long as its connected to MSX.

Ive had a look at the List on Generation X as linked by rderooy. The site contains some basic info on the books and links to the online library archive.org site. A few of the missing or unavailable books ive sourced from other sites. There are still many gaps however. I own 4 MSX books. 2 of which seem unobtainable. Both the Sony issues. An Introduction to MSX Basic and MSX Basic Programming Reference Manual. I will try to scan these into the computer and create PDF's of them for you all but where do i upload them to ? We need a book repository as this, to my mind, is far more important than a games archive although this is still very dear to me as i consider games to be works of art and should also be preserved. Do we have a preservation project ongoing or do we lack the resources for this ?

By the way I cant speak any other Language than English so can only contribute and am only interested in material written in English although any archive should obviously be organised by language and sub catorgorised by topic. Games, Basic, Machine Code etc.

What are everybody's thoughts on this ?

If you found any books online that are not linked, please let me know which and where. That way I may be able to add a link.

Also if you want to upload any books, I suggest you create a free account on archive.org and upload them there. You can add tags to make it easier to locate books.

I am currently researching the best way to scan books. There are a lot of machines, mostly expensive, but some not so much ! Meanwhile I am scanning An Introduction to MSX Basic by Sony. Which is taking a LOT of time. I'm using some trial software to stitch the pdf's together but I need money to either buy a professional PDF Editor and yet more money for the scanner. I could build one but that's a LOT of time and you still need money for parts, lighting, electronics, cameras etc. However I am also looking into getting out of print books from the British Library. I can get any book from within my Region for free but anything that's in the main book repository will incur a shipping charge. I can devote time to this currently because I'm not working but i can't devote any money obviously. When I'm working I've got spare cash but no time :/ Grrrrr

My First contribution to the Archive !

Introduction To MSX-BASIC

Hope this is of help to someone or at least gives you some pleasure.

Personally I didn't like the book as I found the examples and general style to be unimaginative. The fact that its a little bit camp went over my head as a kid. It might just be that it could be a Japan cultural thing. Anyway Is searchable on the archive.org now.
