I've been playing some games over the past decades Oo
With the arrival of cheats in emulators I got further in a game than ever. So far that it started to get boring, because I felt like being in an eternal loop, or randomly created maps.

Here's a list of suspected games I can come up with now:
- Athletic Land (after stage 100 I got bored)
- River Raid (after an hour I got bored)
- Highway Star (after the digits were all used, they started using other characters to number the stages)

Please mentioned the games you suspect of being endless... Might be fun...

Yie Ar Kung Fu comes to mind. Gave up after a few loops with no change.

It should be possible to debug them to find (if) there's an ending or not.

@ Meits: Athletic Land has around 105 different levels, and then games goes back to level 1. So, you were very close to the end of it Wink I completed it withour cheats many years ago. Very important, when you start game, go left instead of right - game will be a lot easier, especially balls.

Another game without end is Desolator (http://www.generation-msx.nl/msxdb/softwareinfo/2708)

I never liked games without end. My idea of playing was to make unlimited lives, finish game and move to the next one. But because we didn't have a lot of different games back in the days, I was playing them again and again ;)

There are games that just increment the stage number and the speed/number of enemies. They are the most of videogame-like.

The variation for this is a non-numeric type of counter, like NAMCO's Galaga, Pac Man, etc. Eventually the counter can also loop.

There are games that loop after definite number of stages.

Some just loop without giving you the "feeling" on an ending, I think Yie Ar Kung Fu is like that, even with the increasing difficult of the enemies. Not even a "CONGRATULATIONS" screen.

Some doesn't have a proper ending, but show a course or a map, like Road Fighter and Antarctic Adventure, that gives you the feeling of have completed something.

Some have an ending before loop, like Magical Tree, Gradius I, Back to the Future, Knightmare.

And there are that games that have an ending, and don't loop.

But there are weird games in respect to this 'classification', like Pitfall (ends after 20 minutes ?), and Guardic (you consider beating that boss an ending ?).

I have read from somewhere that Pitfall 1 has the last screen. I don´t remember if it ends or loops after that though, I have not tried it by myself.

hyper sports / hyper olympics series. ...I think Hyper Sports 2 has a "congrats" screen after each loop, but I wouldn't call it an ending (just 3 different game stages looping).

Kung fu, road fighter and the hyper olympic games have clear loops. What I am searching for are games that seem to loop, but you're not sure.

This line is clickable for everybody who's bored

nemesis 2 comes to mind, but it's already widely known what happens.

... and I did play Kungfu 1 for over 100 stages once just to make sure. oO

Nemesis 1 also kind of loops, but I don't know how the difficulty changes after multiple loops because I played 1 1/2 loop on 1 life, then quit when I died once, with 26 lives remaining. It only happened once too, sometimes you have these game runs where you're really playing at another level... (I think they call it "in the zone"). Oh well, OT.

I'm not sure if Kung Fu master loops (Spartan X), but that's just because I'm no good at it.

Breaker Breaker (I think you mean Breaker by Radarsoft) has an ending. At the end of the game, the course ends with a big wall with some message written on. I finished it a lot of times back in the days.
