It's true that, due to all the testing, developers get their perception of difficulty distorted Smile

BTW, did you develop the game on a 50Hz or 60Hz machine?

The game is designed for 50Hz. If you play on a 60Hz, you should use one of the hidden options to at least reduce the ship rotation speed (by pressing "2" in the main menu), otherwise, the ship is very hard to control Smile

But now you detect the vdp rate
Maybe you could adjust the default game speed accordingly

Good point, that'd be trivial actually. I'll give it a try tomorrow morning Smile

Wait! I said that too quickly! the current code distinguishes between the MSX1/MSX2/MSX2+ VDPs, but not between the 50Hz/60Hz versions. I'll create a thread in the development forums for some follow-up questions on this

[ah, forget about it, I found the answer in this thread: https://www.msx.org/forum/development/msx-development/how-0 ]

Ok, added to the new release v1.3.1: https://github.com/santiontanon/transballmsx/releases/tag/1.3.1

Now when 60Hz is detected, default ship speed is brought down a notch (it's set to the 87.5% of full speed, which is equivalent to pressing '2' in the title screen). It can, of course, be brought back to full speed by pressing '1' in the title screen, as in previous versions.

My fault!
I confused two projects. Anyway I use exactly that same routine by dvick

Something weird happened... I tried v1.3.1 and stage 5 map doesn't seem to be ok
