Now when 60Hz is detected, default ship speed is brought down a notch (it's set to the 87.5% of full speed, which is equivalent to pressing '2' in the title screen).
Hmm... but I don't think this will make the difficulty equal unless you adjust the gravity & acceleration as well.
@Imanok: really? which emulator and MSX model did you use?
@NYYRIKKI: indeed, indeed! the game is still designed for 50Hz. But at least now, in 60Hz it starts with a different configuration setting, which is at least playable. The only easy way I see to make the difficulty equally hard in 60Hz as it is in 50Hz computers is to skip one out of every 6th frame, but that might look jittery, no?
@santiontanon: real MSX turboR with ODO rom loader, as always. I will try flashing it on the MFR
to bypass the problem, on MSX2 and MSX2+ you can force the computer to act as a 50 Hz machine, even if it's a japanese computer.
Hi Imanok, and what what the problem you observed? (I just want to see if I can reproduce it )
The half bottom part of the map was shifted down
Hmmm, weird. I just tried in OpenMSX with a "Panasonic FS-A1ST", and it works fine. Perhaps there is some mismatch between the real hardware and emulation?
Let me try flashing the rom first. I'll keep you informed
Santi, did you also try with the ODO ROM loader?
Good point, I just did, and indeed, I could replicate the problem. Weird! I don't know how ODO ROM loader works, what would make this happen? perhaps when MSXDOS is active, it overwrites some of the higher addresses in memory, corrupting the map data?
