MSXdev21 #26 - Alien Attack | MSX Resource Center

All shooter fans can rejoice, as "Alien Attack" comes ripping through the horizon and breaking through the sound barrier with a bang.

Playing Alien Attack, you control the combat fighter craft called V.I.P.E.R. to blast your way throught waves of relentless foes. The game is a top-down shooter that scrolls with various speeds.

Contestants have until the end of August to submit their entries. If you are enjoying this MSXdev game, why not consider donating to the prize money. 100% of the donations will go to the game developers.

The MSXdev21 contest runs from January 1st to September 1st, 2021.

Hats off to this game that makes homage to Nemesis in the style of the intro and to Knightmare on the gameplay.

I got to level 2. Reminds me of Sky Jaguar in many right ways, especially the careful wave timing of two-colour enemies to avoid having sprite flicker.

Some minor suggestions to later versions: add a "press up to skip" hint in the cutscenes at the bottom right. Also, only 50pts for the miniboss on level 1?

Yes, we really would like to release the game on cartridge!
But, we both (Marcos and me) do not have any experience with that.
So if anyone could tell us how the "cartridge production" biz works, he is welcome to get in contact with us!

Hi uninteresting. two good suggestions for improvement. I just add them to my list.
Congrats for reaching level 2. tell us if you are able to kill level 2 boss.

A potential future improvement -- the enemy sprites may overlay the score panel at the bottom of the screen. Have you counted the number of sprites so carefully that placing 4 invisible ones down there to hide the enemy sprites wouldn't be possible?

Hi valkyre, at the moment the work on the full version of AA is paused.
Marcos is moving with his family to another city and starts a new job, and I am working on a new game project.
We promised each other to finish AA in 2022. Please be patient with us.
