MSX in space

Hello All,

I was just looking at the old-computers website when i saw the Sony HB-900.
There was a link in the description to a website showing pictures of that sony msx model in de MIR spacestation.
Pretty cool!

Did anyone know? and what I'm currious about is what did they use it for exactly?
Also wondering if this computer went down with the spacestation or still floting around out there somewhere,.........

I still think it's a myth. I read somewhere an article about computers used on Russian space stations all these years. They mention various computers, but no one of them was an MSX. Sorry, can't find the article now.

The usually mentioned "proof" for MSX in space is the following picture from some German TV program.
Can you positively identify anything at all on this blurry image ?

Though I have to agree that it looks similar to Sony HB-G900F, but I still can't tell this for sure.

I wonder if any other home or business computers have gone into space? I am sure that the odd PC laptop perhaps, but Windows is not that reliable.

we can't deny it is an hb900 + genlocker for sure . we can see the cartridge slot also the disk drive , i wonder if the right most is a CD or FD, joystick port , keyboard , the volume control is different , brighter , videotizer has the same button , in between there is some white block , i dont know what it is , as if hb900 + videotizer were molded together which be can explained since in space you may want not to have to deal with with all the connection netween them .
Do you think that on top of TV there is a printer ?

I have been inside a replica of MIR station in france in "la cite de l'espace" near toulouse where many aerospace industry company have headqueaters ( airbus , cnes , intespace , atr , ... ) , there was inside huge panels with cassete reader , i though
it was very very old conception and it would not surprise me that some computer were added later .

I was inside Saljut replica in 1984 and I don´t remember seeing anything like MSX-1 there...!

Ok, I didn’t know whether I should post this in one of the other threads (see here and here), but I figured this one will also do. I just came across this picture on Facebook, and guess it contributes to the others showing that there was a Sony HB900 with videotizer on MIR.
