Nice! Though I never ended the game, I started over and over again. Seem to remember my version had a major bug in it, so it wasn't possible to play it to the end.
Indeed '3D' on the MSX, however those also represent some of the most unplayable games I have ever seen/played; it's a nice intellectual feat to make that kind of thing, but for real use better just make 2(.5)d games. Must say I like them better anyway :)
Oh yeah, because 3D is already implemented in the 80. But these Hydlide game that has 3d in the fourth generation . Because in the 80s 3D was slowly and it was not so to put an upper floor to 3D . For example Mario Kart or F-Zero for the SNES or SFC. Because SNES or SFC were the first who can. MS DOS have it also. For example, the game Wacky Wheels or Skunny Kart.
Trust me. If the V9990 would have made it in time on the turbo-R release MSX could definetly do 3D without many problems. The R800 CPU is so amazingly fast.
I am no expert on the VDP but I could imagine that if the VDP would be running at lets say 6-8 times the speed lets say 28 MHz it could do some pretty amazing thing in combination with a R800 CPU.
