Hi all,

Hopefully someone can help me out what's wrong and/or different between a GT and ST Turbo R.

I have both an Turbo R ST and an Turbo R GT

I connected them both to my HDMI LCD with a Video Converter/upscaler. The ST works great with it. Good picture in all screen modes.

Now today I also connected the GT and initially also a perfect picture. However, when using certain software suddenly the picture begins to wobble and sometimes signal is lost. As if the converter does not recognize the RGB signal anymore when the GT goes to for example screen 8 or something. An example of software that changes screen mode and gives this problem is Sunrise Magazines but also other's. Again, the ST has no problem at all.

I also tested the ST and GT on a LCM TV with Scart and there I don't have this problem.

What is wrong here? Does the GT provide another type of RGB signal? Everything is the same: cable, converter, software etc.

As my TV does accept the SCART signal of the GT I am afraid the converter can't handle the type of signal the GT gives (although it's very strange it's different from the ST). Does anyone use a upscaler/converter with his Turbo R GT that does work with all screen modes?

Any help appreciated.

Maybe the capacitors of the GT are in worse condition, causing a less stable signal?

Then I would expect similar problems on the LCD TV with scary as on my LCD HDMI monitor with converter.

I have an extra discovery: When I do vdp(10)=vdp(10)or2 to switch from 60Hz to 50Hz I can "activate" the problem on the GT: screen starts wobbling and converter loses signal sometimes. On the ST this does not happen.

Going back to 60Hz with vdl(10)=vdp(10)xor2 stops the problem.

After some researching I am getting the idea that it might have to do something with the SYNC method of the RGB signal. Maybe that's different between the ST and GT?

the GT have the video composite signal in the SYNC signal (VIDEO : pin 4 of DIN 8) because the C-INCH with video composite is missing
at this place is the MIDI connector
on schematic exist strap J1 J2
J1 for CSYNC0 signal
J2 for CVOUT
it's two round bead
cut J2 and sold J1
search between DIN8 and CXA1145 in the left

@Jipe
Aha. This explains the different behaviour between the GT and ST I think. Thanks.

It's a common issue in the world of retro gaming I read when you use (some) video upscalers with certain retro consoles or computers when the video signal is transported on the same pin as the SYNC signal. The solution I read about could be a SYNC stripper like this one:

http://arcadeforge.net/Scaler-and-Strike-Devices/Sync-Strike...

But you seem to offer a different solution here by soldering either the cable different or in the Turbo R itself?

I do not understand what I should do exactly. Do you have a picture or video of what to do?

is inside the GT
you can see J1 J2 on this picture ( search on middle/top )

Found it. Where should I cut and where should I sold exactly? Should I make a sold between both halfs of the circle of J1 and cut the bridge between the half circles of J2?

What will exactly be the effect of doing this? Has it downsides? If this solves it, why didn't panasonic just bridge J1 instead of J2?

my taylor is rich but my english is poor Wink

yes cut the bridge on J2 and sold between both halfs of the circle of J1

the effect is replace VIDEO COMPOSITE to SYNC signal on the pin 4 of DIN 8

the choise of panasonic is for have a VIDEO COMPOSITE because the yellow C-INCH missing on GT
