I find the way that this forum works a bit weird. Why can't I edit my own posts after a few hours? Sometimes the original post contains mistakes or even incorrect info. Why the author of the post can't edit it later? In many forums you can edit your own posts even after years, the forum just adds the "Last edited by [username] on [date/time]" note to the post to indicate that it was edited after initial posting. Why can't we have such a feature here? Now I have to ask the admins to fix my older posts, but not all admins are paying attention.

Well, why not save all versions of the post? In a tree-like format.

What kind of answer is that? I expected a serious answer, I thought we were all grown ups here?

Mr. Zett, do you own this portal to give such answers? I thought we had a democracy here. Maybe we should all vote for such a feature to be added?

Maybe I'm missing something, but what's wrong with simply reposting the comment, but with the applied corrections?
This even keeps the thread up to date without those following it having to revisit the initial page every single time.
Also, the mod alert feature isn't really meant for requests of editing older posts.

There was a 'edit forever' feature in a spectrum forum long ago, until some people randomly changed their posts to attack everyone else on that forum. So they changed it into one hour edit.

I agree it's annoying if your links in the first post has changed but in the end i still like the change. Also, bumping a thread for an update makes the thread visible once more, so it's just as good.

afaik you can always edit your post unless:

a) It is the first in the topic (topic start)
b) It was quoted by someone

not 100% sure if it is correct but i can still edit posts from days /weeks back

I think there is a lot wrong with this. People should be free to delete/edit their posts as they please.
