There is an ancient tale about the old and peaceful village of Usuki in Japan.
One terrible night, the town was attacked by deadly ghosts and monsters.
To defeat them all and bring peace again, the Ninja Savior was summoned for him to defeat the evil forces and save the village from destruction.

After the announcement of Wing Warriors, we're happy to inform you that the 2nd entry for the contest is actually already finished and ready to download and play. It's an action puzzle game by none other than Relevo Videogames, a developer rooted deeply in MSXdev history.

Are you working on an MSX1 game, or even have one finished? Please consider to submit your work as an entry for this legendary MSX contest, and have the guarantee of a wide audience as possible, gain the attention of potential cartridge producers and even contend to win some prizes!

"After the announcement of Wing Warriors, we're happy to inform you that the 2nd entry for the contest is actually already finished and ready for download and play."
Is ready for download and play from where?
I can't find games for download from MSXdev'15.

Follow the "Relevant link" at the bottom of this newspost, and there, click on the blue text
"Ninja Savior (Relevo Videogames, 2015)"
Sorry if it was unclear.

For future reference: do more people find it unclear? Because if so, we'll perhaps have to make some adjustments to the system.

I found it, thanks!
Yes, was somewhat unclear.
I saw the link but I thought was the title of game for the screenshots!
The first entry game Wing Warriors have a link for download or not?

No, a ROM of Wing Warriors hasn't been sent in yet, only announced, so they're probably still working on it. Which figures, as they have a few more months to complete it:

Relevo is just early. :)

Nice.. Hannibal
@John: not completely sure if you're also referring to the MSXdev site, but.. to me: 'relevant link' makes me think 'what does that mean?' (you use it all the time over here, it this part of the 'system'?)

Regarding the MSXdev site : I do find the d/l link to be unclear. Perhaps pairing it with an icon, or make it into a button style, or both, and putting it in the top-right corner or something, or as last item (so you 'force' people to work through the content first) should make it more clear.
Plus (anyway), it doesn't feel natural to me how the screenshots slider comes last (after the d/l link) + on wide(r) displays the page layout could be improved (put the screenshots right of the text or something, instead of keeping it at 100%).

Cheers!

@ ren: Yes, the "Relevant link" part is simply how it's done around here at MRC. Smile Though I don't really see the confusing part about it.
At the MSXdev site (which is technically the Spain-based MSXBlog), something like an icon accompanying the download link may be a good idea. I'm sure Konamito will read these suggestions and give it a thought.

Really cool game! Nice graphics & music and gameplay that fits for all ages from 3-99. Reminds me a little of Konami Badlands. For the very youngest players, here is a little tip: Change byte from offset #372 to #AF... Now hitting the opponent does not hurt quite that much although it still hurts.

I made a little video for people who want to see a little teaser of the gameplay. Make sure to download as well!

@John: to not deviate from the subject any further, I elaborated on the 'relevant link' thing over here: http://www.msx.org/forum/msx-talk/msx-resource-center/releva... ;)

Whoa, this production just oozes quality (as we've come to expect from Relevo) - neat gameplay and extra praise for the music, which seems to deliberately wink to Goemon here and there... or am I the only one hearing this? Smile

I went to the site after this icon was introduced and I had no problem locating the download link LOL!

The game is really addictive, and smooth! Love it, brings me back to the 80s where EVERYTHING was Ninja.
(Hey, come to think of it, my new band is even called Suicidal Ninja Monkeys Wink )

I do feel (adding a critical note to the praise) that if some more game elements would have been added, the game could have been (way) more interesting.
It's nice/cool and all, but a bit too simple to be really interesting IMO. (And I guess Relevo has the skills, but of course more efforts involved/required etc.) Cheers!

@Konamito: that's an icon alright.. ;)

btw @John: this is MSXdev'15 #2 (title) ;)

Don't worked on my (real) MSX, computer hangs -- I've used a Hotbit 1.2 (MSX1) and tried with ExecROM, ODO and SofaRun with the same result in both. Using ExecROM.

Using ExecROM on OpenMSX I received this:

"The running MSX software has set unsafe PSG port directions. Real (older) MSX machines can get damaged by this.
DI; HALT detected, which means a hang. You can just as well reset the MSX now..."

No. As always, we only count games that are actually submitted, not just announced.

Ah, wasn't aware of that. I figured 'cause over @ MSXBlog this is titled as the 2nd entry (thus a bit confusing perhaps).

@PlainSpooky: The game doesn't work with rom loaders. To play it on a real MSX you need a flashrom cartridge (or buying the physical release)

It is intermittent, today it runs on OpenMSX! I recorded a video and play until finish. Everything worked fine!

now you can play on real MSX with ODO
just replace ED 7B 4A FC by 00 00 00 00 at start of rom
but this version don't work with emulator or flashrom

By the way, MSXDev's rules says:

Quote:

...
The games should work perfectly in any MSX compliant machine with the amount of RAM needed to run the game. If a game does not run properly in all MSX computers with at least 16 KB RAM it could be disqualified by the organization.
...

So this problem needs to be fixed by RELEVO, or not?
