Booting sequence completed… Little android LOGIC finds itself in a room in an unknown location, all his communications are offline and one simple directive in its program: Get out.

Raul, author of "Modern MSX BASIC Game Development" puts theory into practice with his MSX-BASIC game "LOGIC"; his remastered version. The author operates under the moniker Plattysoft and just entered MSXdev21, just as in MSXdev'20 where he submitted Raftoid.

Contestants have until the end of August to submit their entries. If you are enjoying this MSXdev game, why not consider donating to the prize money. 100% of the donations will go to the game developers.

The MSXdev21 contest runs from Jan 1st to Sep 1st, 2021.

The title screen made me wonder if this was a Klax clone, but no, it's not Klax. Looks to be again a difficult game, even with the large number of lives given at start. The change from one screen to the other is rather slow, but I suppose that comes with it being done in BASIC? The ability to jump the moment you enter the room even if you were meant to spawn mid-air or on a deadly yellow block seems a bit strange.

I'm looking forward to playing more of this.

Thanks for playing!
The room transition delay comes from BLOAD not being supported under MSX-BASIC-KUN, so the main loop gets recompiled each time you enter a room. I tried many workarounds, but unsuccessfully.

You can enter a room jumping, and it is necessary on a few places.

Once you know the tricky spots (a.k.a. deadly traps), it is not too difficult, It takes me about 12-14 minutes to play through.

Nice game!

Good challenge vs lives balance I think, and I like the ledge and screen transition jumps and such.

I have a "better" version with faster room transition, but the cartridge requires a machine with 32Kb of RAM, so it can not be used for the contest.

This is a full version? This ROM size is 48kB, the previous version (v1.2) is 256kB.

Yes, it is the complete game. The original one is compiled with MSX-BASIC-KUN and that means that the compiler itself is part of the rom. Also, I set dsk2rom to have a size that is a power of 2, and the entire game is just slightly over 130K.

This new one is compiled using msxbas2rom and all the resources are also compressed, which makes it much smaller.

Thank you for this clarification. I have another question: Are you also the developer of Deep Core Raider?
