The second entry in the Pimp my PSG challenge comes from Spain and is brought to you by FranSX. You might recognize the name; in the Game Music Cover Challenge he participated 5 times, each time bringing you a new arrangement of a Spanish MSX game!

In the Pimp my PSG challenge, he sticks to the concept. This time FranSX chose to create a remix of the main theme of the game Stardust by Topo Soft. FranSX adds that the original composer, Cesar Astudillo (aka Gominolas), is his favorite 8 bit Spanish composer and hints that he might make another entry.

The track itself was created with MBWave, and in the download you'll find 2 MP3s, one recorded from a real Moonsound and one recorded from openMSX. Of course the download also contains original the MBWave files and a loader. For convenience, FranSX also created a Youtube video especially for the challenge where you can get familiar with the game and the original music first and then get to enjoy his own take on the track.

With 2 entries, we're just getting started in the Pimp my PSG challenge. Join Meits and FranSX and battle for eternal fame, kudos from Dutch scene group Impact and cool prizes! You have until May 1st to send in your entry.

Oh, I really like the track & the way the video is presented. Somehow the result is a bit un-moonsound-ish, and I mean that in a very positive way! And a great way to promote an underappreciated PSG tune. Nice!

Cool! This song did deserve a pimpy remake indeed!

Too bad the graphics of the game are so... colorless... The Amstrad game does look a lot better indeed.

I didn't even know this game, so I was glad to be able to hear the original song first through the handy and nicely made YouTube video.
Ofcourse, the game suffers from what we used to call "the English disease" (2 colours only), but I'm quite impressed by the multilayer effects, especially for a 1986 game.
That being said, I really like the re-arrangement. Very clear and crisp sound. Nice use of stereo effects.
