Not even two weeks into the MRC Tenliner Challenge and the third entry has already arrived. Pentacour has created an MSX port of the 1981 Nintendo Game & Watch game Manhole - in no less than 10 lines of MSX-BASIC.

The objective of the game is to use your manhole cover to prevent the randomly appearong pedestrians from falling through the uncovered holes. This entry uses exact 10 lines and no extra media file.

Thanks for playing the game! I'm not a graphist but obviously gfx is the best feature of the game Tongue

I really enjoyed programming it and opening the MSX-BASIC manual of my Hit Bit and see mine annotations from more than 20 years ago, hehe.

Ah, my record is 173 Cool

The game could be improved by replacing support for 'strange' keys by support for cursor keys and joystick. I don't see why this choice for d, c, k and m keys has been made, we are not on a Spectrum system, but on MSX !

(only line 40 needs to be changed)

Game & watch has two buttons on the left and two on the right. Cursors are not like this, two on the left and two on the right. Have you played with cursors or joystick? May be is not as difficult as I thought.
