Topic: Emulation

Version 1.6.0 of blueMSX has just been released. The emulator now comes with a customizable shortcuts editor: the user can remap a long list of features to keys, combinations or keys or to the joypad buttons, create different profiles or modify the existing profiles. An alternative interface, DIGIblue, has been implemented as well. This interface has a visualisation of the audio outputs and more indicators about the emulated machine and his working. Other changes in this version:

  • Added Korean language
  • Added DirectX support for joystick/joypad
  • Updated Joystick configuration dialog (Properties/Controls)
  • Added Gamma/Brightness/Contrast/Saturation controls
  • Added slider for adaptable scanlines on each monitor emulation type
  • Added new screenshots modes:
    - Filtered screenshot (the original)
    - Large unfiltered screenshot (544x240 pixels)
    - Small unfiltered screenshot (272x240 pixels)
  • More up to date MSX-AUDIO engine
  • New keyclick emulation
  • Renewed and extensive rom database (now fully external to the emulator)
  • Added support for future cas and dsk databases
  • Added support for selecting rom type for zipped rom files
  • Added toggle Show/hide sprites
  • Added choice of the default slot or drive for the drag and drop of files
  • Added choice of the default mapper type for the roms not found in the rom database
  • Fixed Bunsetsu Mapper to work with FS-4500 & FS-4700
  • Fixed bug when ejecting an ASCII8 rom while emulation is running
  • Fixed audio bugs : PSG samples now works again, Panasonic MSX-AUDIO is well detected without special poke and you can play Disk Station dismagazines or games like Labyrinth or Xevious with MSX-AUDIO
  • Fixed a bug in the creation of all needed directories at startup
  • Disabled the video rendering when minimizing the emulator window without stopping the emulator

Later this year the developers of blueMSX will start implementing turboR support. As this will require a complete rewriting of the Z80 emulation core and additional support of the specific turboR diskdrive, don't expect a new version before november 2004.

still great work!
may I suggest some features?
- HD support/Real files
- GFX9000 (ofcourse Smile )

I would certainly wanna see some emu doing realfiles (PC HD) support properly.. that'll be da bomb

the problem if than the emulator emulates the HD itself, and it manage only sectors, and at that level aren't talking about filenames, file structure.

So, if any do that, got 2 options, make a firmware MSX-ROM as IDE interfaz (the more easy), or jammer all access and draw in the middle a HD filesystem structure.

The Compujunks MSX2 emulator already had direct access to the PC HD. That was actually the first MSX emulator I ever saw and used. In 1995 or so.

The sprite hiding was only added for map makers. It is also only useful for that purpose because it not only disables sprites. It also disables sprite collision detection.

So you can cheat on your game, but you can't see what you're doing anymore? Tongue

Hi yall!

Thanks for supporting blueMSX and downloading our latest v1.6.0!
We have worked very hard with this release for over an month. We wanted to give you something special as the entire team will be gone for a vacation.

Anyway when we packed our release last night we made some mistake and archived a wrong build for the release. Truley sorry for users who downloaded them. The correct build is "9859" and are replaced to this build in our download page. Anyway please download it again if your version has build number prior to that.

Well enjoy our release and give us a feedback! We really like to hear your comments.
