openMSX for Dingux

The Dingoo A-320 is a small and cheap handheld game machine from China. Dingux is Linux for the Dingoo. And today an early prerelease of openMSX was made available for Dingux. If you own a Dingoo, it's certainly worth a try! It's a work-in-progress, so a few issues are known already:

  • key mapping does not suit every game
  • startup and state loading are slow
  • sound stutters if CPU hits 100%

You'll need MiniSD card to use Dingux.

Just got my Dingoo by mail last friday and installed Dingux on it.
Although it is still an early port, OpenMSX works very well for roms, unfortunatly disk is not suported jet.

Moniz: C-BIOS does not have a disk ROM. But if you put system ROMs of a machine with a disk drive on the SD card and add for example "-machine Philips_NMS_8250" in "", disk support should work. I have not yet tested this myself though.

I tried deleting the rom database xml, but it doesn't help to improve startup time (15-20 seconds), and loading states takes almost the same time.
Also (and this bug is critical) system freezes after I exit openMSX.

Dear openMSX team, are you guys still working on Dingoo version ? I hope you can fix these, and thank you a lot in advance.

As for sound stuttering and freezing, I only can hope this is fixable, because I saw this problem almost in every other Dingux application and emulator.

The startup was about 20 seconds, of which 16 were used to initialize the palette (including all possible YJK colors). By disabling gamma correction and some other optimizations, the palette initialization is now less than a second. I'll try to find some time this weekend to release an updated test version.
