Normally I’m not that interested in direct ports to MSX as I prefer original games (though nothing is really original anymore, of course) but this one I’m really looking forward to! I love Fort Apocalypse.

I did not know this game. The Atari version looks better. I hope the MSX version will be similaire or even better.

I don't see major differences between the Atari version and the C64 one, apart from the choice of colors.

Colors are less drab, scrolling is more smooth, sounds are better and it's faster.

The pallette for C64 machines was reportedly 'designed' very much like this:

and it shows, heheh. Which makes the C64 games that actually look good even more impressive.

and sprites are more fat pixels and less detailed . On msx they can be improved

Here's a statement of Bob Yannes which is a designer of the VICII:

Quote:

I'm afraid that not nearly as much effort went into the color selection as you think. Since we had total control over hue, saturation and luminance, we picked colors that we liked. In order to save space on the chip, though, many of the colors were simply the opposite side of the color wheel from ones that we picked. This allowed us to reuse the existing resistor values, rather than having a completely unique set for each color.
