Always happy to see more entries. I haven't given it more than two tries yet, and hope to fix this soon. In case you work on it further, one suggestion I have would be to have the music change closer to the end of the game by picking up the speed or such.

Uhhh not sure I'll have time to do many changes. One thing that bothers me is that I can't seem to be able to start the rom using this megaram/mapper cartridge with sd card I bought. If I get some tips on that I would like to improve this compatability aspect.
For now I'm playing the disk version on my VG8020 and prefer it to the pixel perfect emulators.
Since this game was a pet project to learn to code for my first ever computer, I'm happy with it. Actually ordered myself a physical cartridge ????
I believe you wrote the adventure game that is also in the contest. I really like it very much. Good work ????

Sorry, I'm too much of a novice to be of help with the compatibility side.
I find it very possible that your game will rank in the contest higher than mine on the grounds of it having replayability, smooth animation, sound effects and music Smile (And that's perfectly justified in my eyes.)

@CASDuino: thanks, if you just convert the disk version to cas it should work, and even be able to load on a 16 and 32 Kb systems, but only to tell you there is not enough memory
@Uninteresting: thanks for the praise, and you still have time to expand story in your game and make sequels. I'm sure there will be other fine entries in the contest. Rather than ranking high I'd prefer that in a year's time someone still says they play the game.

Unrelated, who is drawing these additional pics like this submarine logo? I only ever made screenshots from the game Smile

I like it when we use more than just screenshots, so I like to design covers. Hope you like it.

There is a small patch available regarding collision detection. Downloads are available here:

Update has also been sent to the MSXDEV team....

I sorted out execution from a mapper cartridge. There was a typo in the code which prevented working with subslots.
There is a new and hopefully final version of the game available for download.
Besides fixing this bug there is a less abrupt ending of the gameplay plus a tune when high score is achieved....

Keeping up with good practices from other authors I have published source code of my game at
https://github.com/zmajcenic/Subcommander
As github is totally new to me I hope I've done all basic required steps to share the code with others.
Please check if the code is readable to public.
Since the code is a mess and if you have questions I'll be happy to answer any that may appear.

Second thing is mostly to satisfy my own curiosity. Please let me know if:
1. You have played the game on real hardware
2. If you have tried saving high scores to HBI-55 cartridge
3. If you have played a 2-player game

What are your thoughts on making 2-player games for MSX in this day and age ?

Thanks

I totaly missed the feature that it is possible to ave the highscore to an HBI-55. So nice!
