YS8 - The Lacrimosa of DANA | MSX Resource Center

In 1987, almost 30 years ago, Falcom released the first game in the YS series. In the same year, lead character Adol Christin set his first steps on MSX with YS: Ancient YS Vanished on MSX2. Many releases, remakes and even better remakes later it is time for the 8th part in the story: YS VIII - Lacrimosa of DANA

To celebrate the release, Sony is releasing two YS editions of the PS Vita handheld. Both the handhelds and the PS Vita version of the game will become available in Japan on July 21st. A Playstation 4 edition is planned for 2017.

Sure hope they will release it for the European markter also !
Still, for the ps4 version we have to wait until 2017.

I'm still waiting for an English PC version of YS7 allthough it seems to be possible to copy some files from the psp version to the Chinese PC version. But I can't find the Chinese PC version, I did get the PSP version running in a PSP emulator.

I played and finished all YS versions except 7. And I still wonder what is behind the glass door in the caves in YS 1 I think that door never opens

Those doors in Ys 1 are ment not to be opened. You open them in Ys 2, thereby showing how the two games are connected (amongst other things).

o.geerdink, we might be doing a full translation patch for the Chinese PC version of Ys Seven. We just released a patch for Celceta PC. I'll need to talk with our hacker on that project to see if he's still planning to do it.

I spoke with the lead on the project last night, who is one of our staff members at a romhacking site that I co-run here at heroesoflegend.org/forums

We haven't opened an official project for it, but he is still interested in taking this project on and we could easily do a full overhaul on the translation as long as we are able to make a clean exe. This PC version distributed by Joyoland has so much DRM in it that in order to truly do a project like this, it really needs to be removed as there are hooks all over the place that can become detached and crash the game when something is changed or modified. I'm also not at all sorry about removing the DRM as I have purchased about 10 Joyoland Keys from them in the past and have distributed all of them and keeping only two for myself. All of these keys have now stopped working. It's just a shitty distribution. If there were away to allow them to continue to do sales for cd-keys and play the game in English, this would be our preference, but there isn't.

So the plan is to do this, remove the DRM and try to restore the exe to be one that is as close as possible to the original compiled version which would have been delivered to Joyoland from Falcom, and possibly have the game run using the Celceta PC Engine.

It won't be for awhile though, but it's definitely on the plate.

I'll have to look for it. I've had an SSD hard drive failure recently so a lot of things like my email programs need to be restored.
