Konami's 3d run-duck-shoot-avoid-gamble-fly-swim game Penguin Adventure features some of the most recognisable music on MSX. Gryzor87 has taken up the challenge to remake the complete game using modern musical equipment. Sound wise, it's a hybrid of acoustic, synthetic, rock and even the old PSG tones add some flavour to it. There are 32 tracks making up for more than 40 minutes of enjoyable MSX music-in-a-new-jacket, consistently produced for a fluent listening experience. As it's the complete soundtrack, the package also contains the smaller tunes such as the title screen, game start and game over. Their duration hasn't been extended so between the longer level tracks you'll find these short tracks as well. Luckily, within the whole album the shorter tracks fit in well with the rest.

Among the tracks are several bonus tracks as well. The package comes with front cover and back cover for those who wish to make this soundtrack more physical.

Agreed, this is indeed a very good work.

Listening to track 21 now... who could imagine that a reggae-ish version of a Penguin Adventure song could be so cool? Cool

Wow great album! Track 23 is absolutely superb to me, I really like that epic/bombastic music style. Almost like a LOTR battle LOL!

Congratulations on this!

Listening to this on the job. I like it a lot! The soundtrack is a nice mix of modern instruments and PSG-like instruments and accents (I especially love the cute penguin squeeky sounds throughout the songs).

One thing the newspost misses is that this is the soundtrack for Penguin Adventure Online, so be sure to check the game out as well!

What do the lyrics actually say on track 23? Were they a dedicated recording for this song?

Rataplan, these days we type such lyrics into a VST plugin and the computer sings.. :P I've done that years ago in this tune.

@Wolf; Ah ofcourse I know VST, worked with it quite a bit back in the days with Renoise (I'm not a cubase fan) but didn't know of these choir plugins. Superb Cool

I NEVER normally comment on any forum but made this account especially to say 'Excellent work' I especially loved your interpretation of the 'End Credits' it reminded of why I loved it so much as child. The choice of instruments both retro and more modern are particularly in keeping with the original i.e. not too Dance orientated.
