SMR #5: Children of the corn

Meits sent us the fifth entry to the MRC Scene Music Remake Challenge. From Emphasys' Golden Power Disc 11, he re-arranged MoA's Children of the corn. Although it lends its name from a Stephen King movie, the song was an original composition made for MSX-AUDIO and MSX-MUSIC. Meits re-arranged the track in Moonblaster Wave, using samples from his Roland JV-1080 and a Casio masterkeyboard. DarQ provided the percussion track for the song.

With the MRC Scene Music Remake Challenge you can win an MSX T-Shirt or a chiptune record composed by the Japanese chiptune artist BeepBoy. Find out all about the competition right here. You can send your finished entries in mp3 format (192kbps preferred) to smr@msx.org. Please do include a small description on the equipment you used and how you created the remake. The challenge is opened until February 5th, 23:59 CET.

Original tune created by Master of Audio back in 1994 using an MSX2 with MSX-audio and MSX-music.

Released on Emphasys' diskmagazine Golden Power Disc 11.
(Order it at your local grocerystore and get a free turdshovel)

Recreated by Meits for the MSX Resource Center's SceneMusicRemake challenge.
Used pc, MSX2, Sunrise Moonsound, Roland jv1080, some crappy casio piano as masterkeyboard.
All edited in Moonblaster WAVE.
Choirs and leads played manually.

I do not often like transposes, and the way it is used here is one of those applications. I feel a
transpose should only be used if it really 'adds' something. This form is kinda giving me the hole 'here
we go again' feeling, same melody just a few tones higher (or lower).
I guess it is just me... it is a very frequent used moonblaster feature... and a lot of people seem to like it.

well, i don't like transposes too... it doesnt make a song beter IMHO. anyway, Moa seemed quite fond of transposing sets of patterns so it had to be done here too...

Frankly, I don't mind the transposes in this song, cuz there's not really much repeating anyhoo...
