Recently MSX user ray2day noticed that there are some problems with the BCF Discstation downloads in our downloads database. The Discstations won't work on a MegaFlash ROM SCC+ SD, but are also known to give problems on other hardware. Reason enough for larsthe18th to investigate.

Upon researching, larsthe18th found out that the problem lies in the weird characters that are used for the files on disk. He solved this problem by replacing the weird characters with normal letters. Apart from fixing most of the problems when running the disks, this also makes it easier to copy the files to a folder or new disk, for example so you can use it with openMSX' DirAsDsk functionality without triggering a bug. Unfortunately these changes don't fix the problems with booting on the MegaFlash ROM SCC+ SD, but at least it solves some of the problems.

The remastered versions of the Discstations have been added to our downloads database.

In either way, it's been improved/updated in the way that it runs on more configurations so more people can enjoy, which I'm sure the authors also like (as they kindly shared the originals for everyone who appreciates it. ;)

By the way, to the non-Dutch people: even if you don't understand Dutch, there's still loads of nice stuff to see and hear! So if you don't know this yet, I recommend it. MSX art! :)
(and if you don't like it, you can yell at me later ;))

They did that with Trojka as well... Close friend of them, Zodiac, used that trick on Arranger II...
Funny that this character is invisible on a European MSX, but shows on a Japanese...
Actually there was nothing to gain with this copy protection as it was more a load protection. You'd get a file not found because you "didn't know there was this invisible character" Smile
It bit the software in the butt in modern times... Nice it's fixed...
