Sunrise launch new website

Ever since the early 1990s, the Dutch foundation Sunrise has been one of the most prominent group of MSX soft- and hardware distributers in the MSX Community. Their Sunrise Magazines and Sunrise Picturedisk gave the entire MSX Scene a great platform to showcase their upcoming products, knowledge and capabilities - significantly boosting the activity of MSX users around the world.

Sunrise distributes a large collection of games and custom-made hardware, such as the OPL4 based MoonSound sound cartridge, the GFX9000 graphics board (which contains the V9990) and IDE/CompactFlash interface that are commonly found in any active MSX user's collection. Also recent scene releases, such as Manbow 2 and the Nowind Interface are being distributed by Sunrise.

In the past few years, maintenance of the old Sunrise website came to a halt and the information on the website became a tad outdated. Today, Sunrise dropped by in our comments to inform us about their brand new website, which contains a webshop where you can buy all of the products that are still in stock. Furthermore, quite some freeware can be found in the download corner. The website is available in no less than 6 languages, but in some languages not all information is available as of yet. Even though it's a work in progress, the most important part of the website - the webshop - seems to be working in every language.

funny detail, there's no "contact" page.... isn't it ironic?

To complete it, add the number in stock...

Perhaps it's useful to add actual descriptions of the software. Only thing to see now is one almost visible thumbnail, no information whatsoever about the genre, background of the game, or even what language it is in.

To me, that seems a bit more important than the number in stock.

Agreed. Saying that the site could do with a little more content would be an understatement.

Hey guys, they just started. Give them a chance to work things out further, OK?

Any thing 'just getting started' never implied that there's no room or use for some supportive suggestions, did it?

every website needs comments and suggestions of users.. so you can see what users actually want to see on a website so you can improve it and make it more userfriendly. not to be mistaken, it is already a good progress to see, all products are visible. But I agree with adding more information, and I certainly hope they will. Give them some time. and a contact form or providing an email adress on the website would be nice, so visitors know how to contact Sunrise in some kinda way. End of speech. Amen!

Temper temper, we're not criticizing the current site in any way. On the contrary: I think it is quite remarkable to see a full-fledged webshop for a niche market such as MSX products, I don't imagine they're handling a dozen orders per day.

It makes me wonder how we compare with other retro scenes. Do NES, C64, Spectrum etc. have active webshops where you can buy new hard- and software?

ROTFLOL!

My Manbow was delivered last week, in a 'plain brown wrapper'. Of course I was at work so I could pick the parcel up at the neighbours three doors away. The name Sunrise must have caught their attention, and checking that web site I now see why they looked so amused when handing me the parcel.
