www.msx.com for sale

In case there is an MSX user around who has just won the lottery: the one MSX domain that has just a tad more cool-factor than your good old msx.org is currently on auction. Yes, ladies and gents, after years of inactivity the domain can now be yours, provided you place a winning bid before September 23rd 2010, 6:00 PM CEST. With 5 bids and counting, the current bid stands at € 2.550 and the reserve has not been met as of yet.

Although it would be amazingly cool if this domain would turn up somewhere in the MSX Community, we have to be realistic and accept that this domain is more likely to end up to host a website about something Automotive or about freaky oyster & clam diseases. That leaves us with the following question: at which price do you estimate this three-letter-domain will ultimately be transfered to its new owner(s)? The MRC member who places the closest guess in the reactions gets a whole bunch of kudos from the entire MSX Resource Center crew.

My guess is that they will not reach the reserve (my guess 4000 or 5000).

The domain MSX.NET has a minimum startbid of 4500

those bids aren't too high compared to certain other domains.. I guess the name "MSX" doesn't carry THAT much commercial value anymore.

I admit, I did some bidding. But 5900 euros was too much for me. Still, TFH, I believe www.msx.com is an ultra cool domain and spending 6000 euros isn't that much, if MSX really influenced your life. People buy cars for a lot more money. Imaging in 10 or 20 years time, you still have this www.msx.com domain where you hang out with other MSX middle aged nerds. It's a well paid 6000 euros in that case. Anyway, I didn't buy it ;)

So, msx.com site now shows some news and "This domain is for sale" (on www.domainer.ae) ad.
and is owned by Ali Orlov from United Arab Emirates who owns 283 other domains.
Is he just a "reseller", or, in other words, cyber-squatter ?

Yeah, my guess is the domain will hop from one domain seller to the other for quite a while -- not really something to report about. We'll put some news out there when there's a 'proper' new owner for the domain.

At this moment, msx.com (& msx.net) are owned by the same entity. I tried contacting them to see if they are interested in selling them and they asked me to let me know my offer.
Well, against better judgement (looking at the numbers above), I offered US$ 500 for msx.com, after which they stopped replying.
