With little over a week to go, entries for the Wallpaper contest on Passion MSX keep coming in. The latest entries are from Karoshi-member viejo_archivero. He submitted two Wallpapers: Monkey Academy and Sony tribute. On the 14th of October this contest closes, be quick if you wish to compete with your own MSX wallpaper!

mmm.. the 1280 version of that Monkey Academy entry looks decent enough, but the 1024 and 800 versions look like they've been scaled using 'nearest neighbour', e.g. no interpolation and thus choppy curves (which is a disaster for cartoon material!). Additionally, why JPG? These JPG artifacts are really disturbing cartoon'ish pictures a lot. I'd choose PNG any day over JPG..

And the biggest one (3375x2550 pixels) is just perfect but I have to be careful with offering those for dwonload cause they take a lot of space.
Eventually I will add them temporarily for download after the contest is closed.

The point is that with -say- bilinear interpolation (instead of nearest neighbour) the scaled-down version will also look good, and when using PNG instead of JPG there won't be those blocky errors.
