Here you can take a look to some screenshots of the HispaMSX BBS from a real MSX, using InterNestorLite, a RS232 interface and the ANSI color Telnet client of Sd-Snatcher and t00b from #msx@rizon.net:

This is the animated welcome screen that t00b made for the BBS. Looks familiar, right? ;)

The bulletins.

You can use your MSX to chat with other BBS users or go into an IRC network.

We are now connected to #msx@rizon.net, betatesting the telnet client.

The client is slow on RS232, but it looks like it goes well on a Obsonet. It will work on any MSX2 with InterNestorLite running. No V9990 needed :P

Actually, it *is* cool! Tongue It's just one of the many great things that MSX will be able to finally do thanks to InterNestor Lite. The 'unstable' stuff we're talking about in one of the screenies was a minor issue when using the fossil drivers, we already found a workaround.

It all started on the #msx channel one day, when SD-Snatcher was working on his pascal telnet client. He was visiting Karloch's BBS and wanted to find a way to support ANSI color. I suggested he give MST's jANSI a try, which did work, but was rather slow.

I had always wanted to make something for INL, but since I don't have the hardware and it's not yet emulated... Anyhow, this is when the idea came to team up. I figured it wouldn't take much time to make an ANSI driver, but ofcourse I had never actually looked at that horrid 'standard'. Tongue

The client was made in pascal by SD-Snatcher, the ANSI/gfx driver was made by myself in ASM. It all seems to work reasonably well at this time. The speed is acceptable when using an obsoNET cart, but it's still a tad slow when using RS232. We still have to figure out some way to 'fix' this.

I'm now trying to make everything modular to allow the client to use multiple -different- graphics drivers. It would -for instance- be possible to make a SC6 driver that shows the graphics in grey-scale, but at a slightly higher speed. Mind you, when using an obsoNET cart the speed on SC7 is not at all bad.

To test the driver routines I also made a small ANSI viewer. Perhaps I can bundle it with some nice ansimations one of these days, and send the stuff in. It should give you all an idea of what's to come when we finally get our Dumas carts... Tongue

Well, enough crap from me. Now go visit Karloch's BBS!!! Tongue

Update: a first V9990 driver is now also working Smile It probably should be optimized a lot, but, well, it's already much too fast! Tongue

BBSing Video of Sd-snatcher's turboR with an ObsoNET cartridge. It's using the V9938 driver and it's lightining fast!!!!

The new version of the client is very fast, even on RS232. Full color and good speed with a RS232 and V9938 Smile

Great. With this BBS, MSX it's very integrated to the Internet, as it integrates boards, downloads, chat rooms, IRC, EMAIL (impressive!), etc... Now hope Ethernet for MSX will be available massively soon and MSX. I want my MSX permanently on Internet Smile

Yours,

Yeah spl Smile The RS232 is still a pain to use for several reasons. Now it's fast, but for some reason, it slowdown so much when massive ANSI information is processed. It looks like some stack overflow. As you can see on the video, there is no problem at all with an Obsonet.

Even so I hope to see a full-working RS232 version Smile

I would like to test ANSI color Telnet client from SD-Snatcher with my NMS-1210 serial interface. Is it compatible?
