Looks totally awesome! MSX conversion anyone?
would be nice to have a conversion!
There is a remake of Rick Dangerous (2?) for the MSX, but it has some differences.
So basically you mean that this Coleco version looks and plays exactly like the Spectrum version?
I watched the video for a bit and I can immediately recognise all the graphics and tricks borrowed directly from the Spectrum version. (I played Rick 1 a lot back then.)
My interest is about tech used to develop the game.
I'm not sure, but I think characters, or part of this, are soft sprite. How many Msx games do you know with this feature?
I'd like to see this game on msx.
Anyway the game looks better than ZX and similar to C64.
I haven't seen any software sprites, all of them are hardware sprites wisely combined and with some clever dynamic masking tricks to make them appear "behind" the background tiles.
No idea about flickering, the scene starting in 0:15 could lead to have three characters in a row; but that doesn't appears in the video. The mummies in 0:51 scene are made of only 1 sprite so no flickers when the three characters are aligned
At 0:13 for example (video 1), seems to have green color spill on the hat.
The flicker is always on, also when there's only main character.
A better video or a playable demo should resolve the enigma. I'll try to contact developers for explanations.
Happy to see Risky Rick seems to be liked here too
Actually there is no MSX version on the road but we'll post if we have news about this, i'd say all depend how will Colecovision version will be received and some other technical issues. One interesting thing is MSX own the mighty AY so the sound part would be better <3

Rooms scripts have been studied to avoid flickering situations, this is very rare and generaly happens with static objects.

This is due to video artifacts, there is no flickering here in the game.
Wow! This game seems way more polished than the MSX2 version we had.
What proves that just using a newer generation is not enough to make a game better.
