(those are actually incomplete programs but I'm sure someone can think of better / more logical ones)

That's quite nihilistic of you.
well I think people who program Jumps as done in this game that they should be SHOT !! And buried somewhere with no tombstone...haha...but seriously...it SUCKS !
Not a nice thing to say.
I know....but it's like the coders never played their own game...if they did ....they would notice that their gameplay ...(ok let me be nicer this time)....is not so OK !

Well, the first ML program of a hobbyist sometimes could have this kind of "features" and, hey!, it's funny despite the jump...
Sure it is funny....but a game should not be frustrating to play unless it was intended to be such a game...
But to get back to the TOPIC...
The GFX R great in MOAM...and I hope the gameplay is equally GREAT...therefore I say.."CODERS play your own game" and...let other people test your game(play) as well...

Don't worry. The gameplay is the main thing in the project. We already played it for hours and hours and hours just for fun. And it is still not frustrating. But we still need to change some little things (minor tweaks).
So no timed/narrow jumps, no non-forgiving collision detection, no repetetive goals and no long slow time consuming backtracking.
Regarding jumping: I think the Maze of Galious has still the best controllable player character(s) ever.
I guess no other jumping style would have fit Maze of Galious, seeing how the screens are built and the enemy behavior 'n' stuff.
It's like a lot of platformers (Bubble Bobble, Psycho World...), which have the rudely "unnatural" jumping making it more fun.
In that respect I like Ninja-Kun: Ashura no Shou and Ninja Jajamaru-Kun very much.
Responsive but intuitive! :D
Jumping in Penguin Adventure is done quite well too. Especially when you've got the feather, propeller & blue shoes (thanks Passion MSX )
You are aware of some spelling errors in the story? Here some of the most obvious ones below. Some wordings might need more changing, but I'm tired and not a native speaker, so let somebody else do that
* THE ARBA MINCH FOREST IN THE HIGHLANDS OF SOUTH ETHIOPIA HID A TREMENDOUS SECRET. (not hided, irregular verb).
* THE PEOPLE OF ARBA MINCH BUILT A FOUNTAIN AND A SHRINE AT THE SPRING TO HONOUR AND PROTECT IT UNTIL THE END OF TIME. (not unto the end of time).
* THE SPRING HAD REPLENISHED ALL LIFE AND VIRTUE FROM DEEP WITHIN THE FOREST AS MANKIND SPREAD OUT OVER THE WORLD. (spread, not spreaded)
* ...DURING WHICH THE SHRINE WAS SWALLOWED BY THE EARTH. ARBA MINCH WAS AT THE MERCY OF EVIL AGAIN. (ditch rendered here)
