I vote for brainless copy protection... reminds me of Dynamic Publisher where you had to take the disk out when MSX was unpacking graphics to make the copy work.
Sorry to bump this thread, but I wanted to ask something of a similar nature. I had to use this trick, and it worked, after trying twice, but then there is the problem of the first screen of the second world. I literaly had to kill the other two enemies while leaving the flying skull around so it would hit me in the air and knock me over onto the other platform, because I just could not jump up to it otherwise. Anyone else here had that problem ?
The Psycho World HDD version has this bug fixed. :)
Oddly enough, it doesn't run on Blue.

Just double tap to run so you can make a bigger jump.

In fact it's not double-tap but hold-release-hold. Double-tap will sometimes foul it to work, and sometimes not, which can be frustrating.
You're right - "double tap" is not the 100% correct term.
By the way, for those who don't know this other trick:
holding a direction, then pushing the opposite direction while still holding the original one will cause the player to walk backwards, still facing the initial direction to attack in.

So she's able to Moonwalk! That's news to me! :)

Indeed it looks like it, hehehe!
