Does anyone knows how to make my 1-chip work perfect.

When I connect it to a TV there is no color, it's only black & white (also with a s-video cable). I also have no clue what to do with the CD-ROM and the useless manual because they are in Japanese.

The reason I bought this computer is to start learning programming in BASIC and ofcourse to play my collection of Konami's. It's been a long time ago I used the MSX system, does anyone can help this rookie Wink

I think you have to change some DIP switches.
Out of the box, the machine is set for Japanese users.

Look here for a lot of useful info:

Especially DIP switch 1, 2 and 4 are important for enabling use with European screens and keyboards.

There is an excellent 1chipMSX introductory manual in PDF format written by Pypo on La Sekta website (MSX->Tutorials section) but unfortunately it is only available in Catalan (you can read there that it will be translated into English and Spanish soon).

@Ge.Nie.: If you have only black & white with S-Video your TV/monitor is a piece of shit - get a decent one that can handle NTSC signals Wink

OR: build/buy yourself a RGB SCART cable (as Repair-Bas, for example).

I bit off-topic but: did you recently get one? If so: how and where? Wink

Ah you mean the tiny white switches at the bottom of the casing. I was wondering what to do with those tiny things, but I didn,t dare to do anything with that. I damaged a lot of electronics in the past by just trying without knowing what I'm doing ;).

I shall check the site you adviced me and then I hope I can do more.

Thank's for so far.

I bought it half a year ago via ebay, he wrote that he had 10 pieces at that moment. Most likely he allready sold them all. He has his own shop @ ebay.nl, selling lot's of Japanese Retro games. But if you're lucky he sometimes get nice things (even seen a Russian MSX etc.)

For contact: see his account at ebay -> RKlok

If anyone is interested there is a dude on marktplaats.nl selling his Turbo R and more interesting selling Snatcher & MG2 with an autograph of Hideo Kojima. The name of his account is AncientYs. If I had the money, I knew what I will do now, better start finishing school and get a good job really fast Tongue

Good luck!

rklok is out. At least on his shop page there are no left. There is a forum post of him somewhere here where he's selling them and he sold them all.

I'm not someone who collects the stuff. I'd like to have a OCM for playing with it (eg games and programming). A proper MSX takes to much space and an OCM is nice because I can hook it up to a VGA monitor, has lots of mem, ide interface, romloader etc.

Few, that's a relief that there will come an English version. The pictures where clear anyway.

I shall check this weekend and next week I'll keep you all informed about the results.

Thank you all for the response so far.

Aw that's a pitty. May be you can try contact him or ask someone on this site (open a forum OCM wanted, or something). It must be very difficult cause, as far as I know the OCM are quite rare.

There was someone in Ijmuiden who sometimes sells OCM's (at least he said) but I don't know his Marktplaats acount. Maybe I have his phonenumber somewhere.

Good luck!
