can you point the link on xydirect?
Good for parallatic engine, but the usual speccy conversion. No, thx.
Well, Soldier of Light and Commando Tracer for example, are very good speccy ports with (specially in the second game) very good scrolls. Most of Animagic conversions have good scrolls (Xenon, Mortadelo 2, Soldier of Light, etc...)
High Way Star (1983) which has a Spanish version called "Race City" (1988, Iber) is also another very good example of good scroll (vertical and horizontal) on MSX 1.
I'm interested, does anyone own this game? Can anyone do a mpeg to see how scroll?
Avenger is quite smooth as well, iirc, also from Gremlin Graphics.
And of couse Bosconian, but you can hardly call that a scroll, as it's just sprites moving.
Avenger, is scrolling at 8x8 pixels. Not what i mean. Plus is the usual speccy conversion.
Rules are:
No blocky: No 8x8 pixel scroll
No speccy conversions, because those works in different way.

Sorry i didn't explain what game, was race city, the other mentioned are the usual speccy conversions.
I think Konami's Super Cobra features a well done 4x4 horizontal scroll. Also Guzuta's Seleniak features a nice smooth layered vertical scroll but, again, don't know if you are only searching for horizontal ones or what
Camelot Warriors, from Dinamic, a stage by stage platform game, features some smooth horizontal scrolling stages too, trickily done with pattern redefinition. Although the original native version was the speccy one, it wasn't a direct port, as it features some screen 2 color patterns and sprites for the characters and enemies.

I see, however there is no scroll routine, except for small parts of game...
Exoide-Z and Exoide-Z Area 5 have nice scrolls too.
Rally-X has smooth scroll in both directions.
Sky Galdo has vertical scroll... Shearing and slow.
Gyrodine has a good scroll too.
